Eleganté Cellars, owned, managed and operated by Doug Simmons, is one of the newer wineries at the airport complex.
Doug Simmons, a retired, high school chemistry teacher, is our winemaker. He received a Certificate of Viticulture and an AA degree in Enology and Viticulture from Walla Walla Community College. In 2005 – 2006 he helped the Huse family at Five Star Cellars, where, with their assistance, he also started making his first wine.
With the experience of working in the WWCC winery, Doug designed his own winery, supervised its construction and opened its doors in September of 2007. The focus at Eleganté Cellars is in low production, high quality, and handcrafted wines. Doug personally selects the best vineyards and grapes that are used in Eleganté wines. During the past several years he has won dozens and dozens of medals for his wines.
